Here at Luctonians our Mini and Junior section is the heartbeat of our club and we offer training and matches for all players, regardless of ability or gender. Luctonians Mini Rugby for ages 4-12 (Reception – Year 7), and Luctonians Junior Rugby for ages 13-16 (Year 8 – Year 11).
All coaches and managers are DBS checked and we provide regular training seminars on Child Welfare and Protection, with each age group having a minimum of two fully qualified First Aiders.

Training (2023/24)
Training or Matches Every Sunday
Season starts Sunday 3rd September 2023
Some age groups may start pre-season training before this date – contact age group manager for details.
Minis – Under 6 (Reception & Year 1) to Under 12 (Year 7) – 10.00am Start
Juniors – U13 (Year 8) to U16 (Year 11) – 11.45am Start
Mini Rugby
Luctonians Mini Rugby offers children between the ages of 4 (Reception & Year 1) and 12 (Year 7) the opportunity to learn rugby and socialise in a safe, fun and rewarding environment.
Training sessions and matches take place on Sunday mornings either at Luctonians or at other clubs around the region.
Safety and enjoyment are our priorities. All coaches and managers are DBS checked and we provide regular training seminars on Child Welfare and Protection, with each age group having a minimum of two fully qualified First Aiders.
We actively promote Mini rugby in the area through various projects and are the proud hosts of the Anglo Welsh Mini Rugby Festival, one of the biggest and best tournaments in the region, if not the country.
We see Mini rugby as the foundation on which the future of the club is built and welcome all new players and supporters to the Luctonians family.

Junior Rugby
Luctonians Junior Rugby represents the next important stage in the development of rugby skills, confidence and fitness for the 13 (Year 8) -16 (Year 11) age groups.
We invest significantly in player and coach development in these stages, with our player pathway overseen by specialist coaches and coordinators. The results speak for themselves with our teams performing extremely well at county level and many of our players progressing on to play representative or premiership academy rugby. Five current Premiership players have come through our Juniors including England Internationals Tom Pearson, Jonny Hill and Josh Mcnally.
We are confident that our teams across these age groups are a great place for youngsters to learn their sport, whilst being in a fun, inclusive environment.
Age groups
The age group for your child is based on their age at the start of each season, ie 1st September. Therefore, for a player to be in the Under 14s, they must be aged 13, with their 14th birthday falling during the year commencing 1st September.

Girls' Rugby
We have mixed girls and boys sides from 4-11 years of age (Reception – Year 6), before our girls only teams start at Under 12s (Year 7) and run all the way up to U16s (Year 11).
Training is open to all ages from 4-16 years, with no experience required and training starts at 10am and runs from September to April.
