LUCS PUT THIS DOWN AS A WELL EARNED FIVE POINTS
Luctonians RFC vs Bournville RFC
Saturday 17th October 2026 – Mortimer Park
Match Report by Geoff Vickress
Lucs bounced back from last weeks performance with a resounding victory against Bournville, who gave a game performance but could not compete with the intensity that the Black and Whites brought to the game.
Lucs scrumhalf Owen Randell led the scoring with 23 points, on his 100th National appearance, with the home side having 10 different scorers.
The returning Lewis Parkes powered his way through challenges and, from the penalty he gained by his good work, Caleb Montgomery crossed the whitewash early doors. Lucs scored at will, with Man of the Match Owen Randell dotting down a few minutes later, and Charlie Grimes winning a kick-chase to give the home side a 21-0 lead after only 14 minutes; all tries converted by Randell.
James Mear scored on the 20 minute mark, following an excellent move involving Randell, George Bennett and Brad Smith (28-0) collecting the bonus point for 4 tries. Bournville, who were never dispirited in their efforts throughout, managed to creep over, after 26 minutes, to get their only points, through Jonjo Fanning.
But this free flowing Lucs side were not be stalled, and a further converted try from a kick-chase by Bob Bray saw the home side go in for their half time sweet tea, leading 35-5.
Half Time Score
Luctonians RFC 35 – 5 Bournville RFC
The home crowd were well pleased with the first half efforts of their team, and will have been equally pleased with the second 40 minutes.
Lewis Parkes deservedly was on the score sheet before being replaced for his efforts, on his first team return, after just 7 minutes of the second half. Hot winger George Bennett then notched a further score, before Lucs went through the 50 point barrier with live-wire Charlie Grimes adding his second try to the proceedings,
James Wheeler was to add his name to the growing list of scorers only minutes later, following a break from within their own 22 by Charlie Grimes, who skipped through the Bournville defence, racing some 60 metres to put him away. Rhodri King and Harry Whiteman [Picture] soon to follow, completing the try scoring, with Randell converting 9 of his 11 attempts.
Full Time Score

Lucs will put this game down as a well earned 5 points, which sees them go into the autumn break in equal second place with Clifton and Hinckley, who have both lost to the Black and Whites this season. Unbeaten Redruth lead the way with a 7 from 7 record, but are yet to play many of the top 5 to date.
The league resumes on 31st October with Lucs travelling to Devonport Services who sit near the basement of the table, before their next game at home v Barnstaple, on November 7th.
